At Canyon Zen we wanted to share a simple way to create your own hand soap in few easy steps. And you can create your own scent using essential oils versus synthetic fragrance; you can use a single oil like Lavender for example, or use one of our synergy blends, or create your own. You can have a hand soap that matches your mood or the season or an upcoming holiday. Endless possibilities!

Please note before using an essential oil into the hand soap, you are making sure the oil you are intending on using is not photosensitive, which means those oils can make your skin more sensitive to the sun and your skin can get sunburn more easily. You can find the information on our website under the essential oil page you want to use under the section precaution and safety.

What you need:

  • 1/2 cup of Castile soap – (We love Quinn’s Unscented Castile Soap)

  • 1/2 cup distilled or filtered water

  • 10 drops of your favorite essential oil; single or a synergy blend.

  • 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil, to help keep the hands soft and moisturized.

  • A bottle with a pump is ideal. Use a bottle made of glass or a BPA-free plastic bottle or silicon bottle.

  • Mixing bowl

How to make:

  • In a mixing bowl combine the castile soap, the water and the olive oil and mix gently until well combined.

  • Add your favorite essential oils and blend well.

  • Pour into the bottle.

Enjoy your new hand soap!
